Valletta moved second, one point ahead of Birkirkara, following a most comfortable 5-0 win over Mosta.

The Citizens dominated from start to finish. On the other hand, for Mosta, following a 2-1 win over Tarxien in their last outing, this was another disappointing game as this was the sixth defeat in seven matches.

Valletta managed to take the lead on the 14th minute thanks to a fine diagonal shot by Shaun Bajada which gave goalkeeper Omar Borg no chance.

Mosta went close on 21 minutes when off a Dyson Falzon freekick from the left flank, goalkeeper Nicky Vella missed for Kaljevic positioned behind him to try his luck with the ball travelling along the goal line but Steve Borg cleared the ball into safety.

On 33 minutes, Valletta doubled the score when Hugo Faria released Lateef Elford-Alliyu who served Roderick Briffa for the Malta international midfielder to place the ball at the back of the net.

Five minutes later, the Citizens scored the third goal when off a Shaun Bajada corner, Ian Azzopardi headed the ball into the direction of Lateef Elford-Alliyu who scored from close range.

Valletta appealed for a penalty as a defender seemed to handle the ball inside the area following a cross by Ian Azzopardi on 66 minutes. Three minutes later, Hamza Barry dribbled past the Mosta defence but his pass was intercepted and the ball ended into a corner.

The fourth goal arrived on the 71st when Omar Borg could only partially save a long-distance effort by Hugo Faria and off the rebound, Abdelkarim Nafti hit home with a powerful shot.

One minute from time, Luke Montebello sealed the issue for Valletta with a fifth goal as he headed the ball over Omar Borg following a cross by Nafti.
