BOV Division 3: Comfortable wins for Kirkop, Mtarfa

Kirkop United returned to winning ways as they defeated Luqa St. Andrew’s 5-0 to take sole leadership in the BOV Third Division.

Michael Theuma put Kirkop ahead on 24 minutes, Vladimir Klikic doubled the score six minutes later and three minutes from the end of the first half, Ilyad Scicluna made it 3-0. Michael Theuma added another on 58 minutes and nine minutes from time, Jotham Adeniran Ayodesi sealed the issue with a fifth goal.

Mtarfa and Attard move third after beating Marsaxlokk 4-0 and Marsaskala 2-0 respectively.

In the game against Marsaxlokk, Mtarfa managed to take the lead on the 24th minute thanks to Cleaven Mizzi. Five minutes in the second half, Gary Caruana doubled the score and seven minutes later, Paul Azzopardi made it 3-0 before Francesco Azzopardi added a fourth one on the 75th.

A brace by Christian Abela enabled Attard to beat Marsaskala 2-0. Abela opened the score on 39 minutes, adding another on the 69th.

Santa Lucia suffered a second consecutive defeat as they lost 1-2 to Qrendi who join them in fifth place. Antoine Sacco and Bjorn Dalli put Qrendi ahead within the first fifteen minutes with Santa Lucia reducing the gap on the 20th but it was not enough to avoid defeat.

An own goal by Gilbert Camilleri eight minutes in the second half gave Kalkara a second successive win as they beat Mdina Knights 1-0.

On the other hand, a goal by Darren Farrugia on the 12th minute gave St. Venera Lightnings a narrow win over Ta’ Xbiex.

Kirkop lead the way with 23 points, followed by Mgarr on 20, Mtarfa and Attard 19, Santa Lucia and Qrendi 18, Sta. Venera 15, Marsaskala 12, Kalkara 11, Mdina 9, Marsaxlokk 8, Luqa 5 and Ta’ Xbiex 3.
