Nine Premier League players suspended

Nine Premier League players were banned by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Valletta defender Jonathan Caruana was banned for two matches while Ryan Fenech (Valletta), Ryan Scicluna and Paul Fenech (Birkirkara), Clyde Borg (Floriana), Marcelo Dias (Hibs), Ryan Grech (Mosta), Terence Agius (Pietà) and Trevor Cilia (Sliema) were handed a one-match ban.

Jonathan Caruana is ruled out of the games against Sliema and Qormi with Ryan Fenech also missing the Sliema game. Trevor Cilia is also ruled out of the game game. Scicluna and Fenech will miss the game against Qormi, Borg the game against Zebbug, Dias and Agius the clash between Pietà and Hibs while Ryan Grech is ruled out of Balzan vs Mosta.

In Division 1, Ariel Laudisi (Pembroke) was banned for two matches while Gianluca Calabretta (Gzira), Jonathan Francica and Keith Vella (Lija), Matthew Guillaumier (St. Andrews) and Brandon Muscat (St. George’s) were suspended for one match. Pembroke team manager Godwin Gatt was suspended for two matches.

Hamrun Spartans duo Jean Claude Debattista and Evano Briffa were banned for one match in Division 2.

In Division 3, Marlon Farrugia (Santa Lucia) was suspended for four matches, Noel Tabone (Kalkara) for three and Kurt Farrugia (Mdina) for two. Colin Ciantar (Attard), Jacob Camilleri and Darren Cristina (Kalkara), Jotham Ayodeji Adeniran (Kirkop), Alex Cauchi (Marsaskala) and Redeemer Borg (St. Venera) were suspended for one match. Marsaxlokk masseur Joseph Buttigieg was suspended for two matches.
