Xewkija score seven, Nadur eight

No less than fifteen goals were scored in the Melita First Division in Gozo on Sunday as Xewkija Tigers defeated St. Laurence Spurs 7-0 while Nadur Youngsters beat Sannat Lions 8-0. Nadur therefore stay three points ahead of Xewkija.

A penalty on the 22nd minute by Daniel Bogdanovic paved the way for Xewkija as they doubled the score five minutes later through Chris Camilleri and made it 3-0 on the 35th thanks to Kenneth Mercieca. John Camilleri missed a penalty a minute later but Dene Shields scored the fourth three minutes from half-time. Shields added another on the 54th and four minutes later, Bogdanovic converted another penalty before the former Malta international striker scored the seventh goal nine minutes from time.

Nadur Youngsters beat Sannat 8-0, taking the lead on the 27th thanks to Ramon dos Santos. Joseph Grima doubled the score on 35 minutes and two minutes later, Joseph Vella scored the third. Ten minutes in the second half, Ramon dos Santos made it 4-0 before Claudio Antunes scored twice in two minutes between the 58th and the 60th. Milos Stojanovic scored the seventh on the 63rd and Joseph Vella the eighth on the 69th.

Last, Kercem Ajax defeated SK Victoria Wanderers 3-2. Ajibade Adeshina put the Wanderers ahead on 33 minutes but goals by Anderson Mendes Ribeiro on the 59th, Petar Kyumyurdzhiev on the 72nd and Andrew Mizzi on the 74th turned the score in favour of Kercem. Four minutes from time, Adeshina scored a second goal for the Wanderers.

Victoria Hotspurs, on the other hand, beat Oratory Youths 6-1. A hat-trick by Nikola Vasilic on 44, 46 and 56 minutes put the Hotspurs three goals ahead. Rodney Buttigieg added a fourth on 78 minutes and although Shaun Attard reduced the gap for Oratory on the 80th, Ferdinando Apap made it 5-1 on 83 minutes and Michael Bezzina 6-1 in added time.

Nadur lead the way with 25 points, followed by Xewkija on 22, Kercem 19, Victoria Hotspurs 13, Oratory Youths 11, SK Victoria Wanderers 7, St Lawrence Spurs 5 and Sannat Lions 1.

Meanwhile Ghajnsielem lead the way by four points in the Melita Second Division over Munxar Falcons.

Munxar defeated Qala Saints 1-0 courtesy of a goal by Orlando Atzori on Saturday.

Last week, Ghajnsielem were held in a 1-1 draw by Zebbug Rovers as the latter took the lead through Sylvan Galea and Stefan Azzopardi notched the equaliser. In another match, goals by Noel Borg and Josef Muscat gave Gharb Rangers a 2-0 win over Xaghra United

At the end of the second round, Ghajnsielem lead with 23 points, followed by Munxar on 19, Gharb 13, Zebbug 11, Qala 10 and Xaghra 9.
