Former Napoli, Inter player appointed Vittoriosa coach

First Division side Vittoriosa Stars have appointed Arturo Di Napoli as their new coach. He replaces Brian Spiteri who was sacked after the 3-3 draw with Birzebbuga St. Peter’s earlier this month.

Arturo Di Napoli started his career with Acireale and after playing with Gualdo, he joined Napoli in 1995. He was then transferred to Inter in 1997. He then played for Vicenza, Empoli, Piacenza, Venezia, Palermo, Messina, Siena, Salernitana, Messina and Venezia once again before ending his career at Caronnese.

After his retirement, Di Napoli took his first full coaching role in July 2012 at Rieti of Eccellenza Lazio, then resigning later in November 2012 due to personal reasons. In August 2013 he took the reins of Serie D club Riccione, resigning in December 2013 due to financial issues. Earlier this summer, he joined Lega Pro club Savona.

Vittoriosa are currently joint-second in the BOV First Division table, along with Gudja United and St. Andrews, one point behind leaders Pembroke Athleta.
