BOV Division 2: San Gwann back at the top as Zejtun beat Hamrun

A goal by Ryan Sell twelve minutes in the second half gave Zejtun Corinthians a 1-0 win over Hamrun Spartans to allow San Gwann to regain the top spot in the BOV Second Division as they beat Mellieha 3-0.

Dylan Pirotta put San Gwann ahead on 73 minutes and a brace by Glen Agius on the 99th and 101st minute gave Edmond Lufi’s side the three points. The game was suspended for around ten minutes just past the hour due to a floodlight failure.

Marsa registered a dramatic 3-1 win over Ghaxaq. Matthew Sciortino put Marsa ahead three minutes in the second half and eight minutes from time, Florin Anton levelled matters. However two minutes in added time, Sciortino restored the lead for Marsa with Vilson Caushi adding another on the 93rd.

Zabbar St. Patrick kept the pace with San Gwann thanks to a 3-0 win over Sirens. Andrew Formosa put the Saints ahead on 36 minutes. Alex Ellul doubled the score on the 86th and one minute in added time, Karl Magro sealed the issue with a third goal.

Siggiewi defeated Xghajra Tornados 2-0 thanks to goals by Mark Camilleri on the 16th and Francois Guihard on 55 minutes.

Dingli Swallows and Gharghur shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. The match came to life during the second half as on the 51st minute, Alex Cesar Pedrozo put Dingli ahead, Martin Deyanov levelled matters five minutes later and Muda Fagbeja made it 2-1 for Gharghur on the 69th. However Kayne Said equalised six minutes from time.

San Gwann lead the way with 32 points, followed by Hamrun on 31, Zabbar 27, Zejtun 22, Senglea, Swieqi and Gharghur 19, Siggiewi 18, Sirens 16, Marsa and Mellieha 15, Dingli 9, Ghaxaq and Xghajra 5.
