Nadur maintain three point lead over Xewkija

Nadur Youngsters maintained a three-point lead over Xewkija Tigers as they beat Kercem Ajax 2-0 in the Melita First Division in Gozo on Sunday.

Milos Stojanovic put the Youngsters ahead just before the end of the first half and Joseph Vella doubled the score on 65 minutes.

Xewkija Tigers beat Oratory Youths 4-2 in another match on Sunday. Dene Shields put the Tigers ahead on the 20th, Shaun Attard equalised two minutes in the second half but five minutes later, Chris Camilleri made it 2-1. Five minutes later, Daniel Bogdanovic converted a penalty to extend the lead with Shaun Attard scoring a second goal for the Youths on 61 minutes. Seven minutes later, Dene Shields sealed the issue with a fourth goal for Xewkija.

Last week, Sannat Lions shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with SK Victoria Wanderers. Sunday Baala put the Wanderers ahead on 43 minutes but Ernest Qordja levelled matters on 58 minutes.

In another match, St Lawrence Spurs and Victoria Hotspurs earned a point each in a goalless draw.

In the Melita Second Division, Xaghra United and Zebbug Rovers shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Manwel Cordina and Philip Cardona put Zebbug two goals ahead but Aleandro Bezzina pulled one back and just before the final whistle, Arthur Farrugia notched the equaliser.

The other clash between Munxar Falcons and Ghajnsielem also ended in a 2-2 draw. Orlando Atzori gave Munxar an early lead, Jason Portelli scored twice for the Blacks to put them 2-1 ahead but Frank Paul Azzopardi equalised late in the game.

Last week, Xaghra United defeated Qala Saints 2-1 thanks to goals by Victor John Saliba and Daniel Bartolo for Xaghra and Shaun Muscat for Qala.

On the other hand, Ghajnsielem beat Gharb Rangers 3-1. Daniel Muscat put Gharb ahead but Ghajnsielem turned the score in their favour with goals by Charlon Tabone, Frank Lee Galea and Damon Hili.
