BOV Division 1: Brilliant comeback puts Fgura in third place

Fgura United extended their unbeaten run in the BOV First Division to eleven matches thanks to a third consecutive win as they came back from two goals down to beat Lija Athletic 4-2.

A penalty by Erjon Beu five minutes from the end of the first half put Lija ahead and two minutes in the second half, Abdullahi Ige Adeshina doubled the score. However Fgura had other thoughts and scored four in the final twenty minutes to take the three points home.

Roland John Emeka reduced the gap on the 71st and five minutes later, Quincy Bregman levelled matters. With one minute to go, Williams Abeeb Abiodun put Fgura head and three minutes in added time the Nigerian striker added another to seal the issue.

Gudja and St. Andrews lead the way with 30 points, followed by Gzira and Fgura on 29, Pembroke 27, Melita 26, St. George’s and Lija 25, Vittoriosa 23, Mqabba 19, Rabat 18, Msida 14, Zurrieq 11 and Birzebbuga 9.
