BOV Division 3: Top five register wins

Kirkop United, Mgarr United and Santa Lucia continue to share the top spot in the BOV Third Division as they all registered wins on Saturday. Kirkop, however, have a game in hand.

A goal on the 95th minute enabled Kirkop to register a dramatic 2-1 win over St. Venera Lightnings. Darren Farrugia put the Lightnings ahead on the 20th when he converted a penalty with Clive Fenech equalising on the 45th. Michael Zammit notched the winner on the 95th.

Santa Lucia registered a fifth consecutive win as they beat Ta’ Xbiex 4-2. Mohammed Senussi put Santa Lucia ahead and Joshua Cutajar doubled the score before Allister Bezzina scored twice for Ta’ Xbiex on 26 and 40 minutes to restore equilibrium. However a penalty by Malcolm Celeste on the hour and a goal by Jean Claude Annati on the 79th handed Santa Lucia the three points.

A brace by Joseph Paul Zammit gave Mgarr United a 2-1 win over Luqa St. Andrew’s. Zammit scored on 17 and 73 minutes with Wayne Cuschieri equalising temporarily on 32 minutes.

Qrendi defeated Attard 1-0 to register the fourth successive win.

Marsaskala were held in a 2-2 draw by Marsaxlokk. Denis Sytnik put Marsaskala ahead on 39 minutes but a penalty by Dylan Attard levelled matters for Marsaxlokk on 69 minutes. Sytnik made it 2-1 six minutes later but four minutes from time, Paul Paris equalised.

Mtarfa beat neighbours Mdina Knights by the odd goal in five with a dramatic 92nd minute goal. Mauro Busuttil put Mtarfa ahead on the 5th and Cleaven Mizzi doubled the score on the 18th. A brace by Adrian Gatt on 28 and 41 minutes restored equilibrium but Cleaven Mizzi notched the winner on 92 minutes.

Kirkop, Mgarr and Santa Lucia lead the way with 33 points, followed by Qrendi on 31, Mtarfa 29, Attard 26, Marsaskala 24, Sta. Venera 22, Kalkara 21, Mdina 17, Luqa 13, Marsaxlokk 10 and Ta’ Xbiex 6.
