Gozo: First Division second round comes to an end

The second round of the Melita First Division in Gozo came to an end on Sunday as Sannat Lions held Kercem Ajax in a 1-1 draw while Oratory Youths beat St. Lawrence Spurs 4-1.

In the first game, Anderson Ribeiro put Kercem ahead on 22 minutes but Justin Agius rescued a point for Sannat on the 57th.

In the other match, an early goal paved the way for an easy win for Oratory Youths. Thiago Dos Santos put them ahead on the 5th, Mark Camilleri doubled the score on 21 minutes and three minutes later, Thiago Dos Santos added another. Mark Camilleri scored the fourth goal nine minutes from time with Mambaye Boye scoring a consolation goal for St. Lawrence on the 89th.

Xewkija lead the way with 35 points, followed by Nadur on 34, Victoria Hotspurs 21, Kercem 20, Oratory 16, St. Lawrence 15, SK Victoria Wanderers 12 and Sannat 4.

Meanwhile in the Melita Second Division, Ghajnsielem stay six points clear as Munxar Falcons suffered a shock 0-4 defeat to Zebbug Rovers.

Manwel Cordina put the Rovers ahead on the 7th minute, Omar Calleja doubled the score on the 74th while Samuel Muscat and Manuel Cordina added another two goals in the final four minutes.

In another match, Xaghra United and Qala Saints shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Josef Galea and Alan Cini put Qala two goals ahead but Steve Sultana and Joseph Buhagiar managed to level matters for Xaghra.

Ghajnsielem lead the way with 36 points, followed by Munxar on 30, Xaghra 24, Zebbug 22, Gharb and Qala 15.
