BOV Division 2: Zejtun, Senglea maintain challenge for promotion

San Gwann keep marching on in the BOV Second Division thanks to a 3-0 win over Marsa.

Following a goalless first half, Dormond Micallef put San Gwann ahead two minutes in the second half. Shaun Vella doubled the score on the 70th and Nezar Abouhaisa five minutes from time.

A goal by Neil Tabone gave Zejtun Corinthians a narrow win over Ghaxaq while Senglea Athletic defeated Mellieha 3-0 courtesy of goals by Peter Anizoba on the 38th, Christian Cassar on the 74th and Timmy Thomas on the 88th.

Swieqi United came from behind to beat Dingli Swallows 2-1. Joshua Sciarrino put Dingli ahead on the 29th, Matthew Asciak levelled matters on the 64th and Omar Smeir made it 2-1 for Swieqi one minute from time.

Zabbar St. Patrick and Gharghur shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Samuel Buhagiar put Zabbar ahead seven minutes in the second half with Shaun Micallef rescuing a point for Gharghur two minutes from time.

Sirens defeated Siggiewi 3-1 in another match. Ayrton Buhagiar put Siggiewi ahead on the 59th but a minute later, Lee Joe Schembri restored equilibrium. Sirens forged ahead on 76 minutes thanks to Ricardo Severino Goncalves with Colin Vella adding another goal on the 85th.

San Gwann lead the way with 49 points, followed by Hamrun on 47, Senglea 42, Zejtun 38, Zabbar 34, Gharghur and Mellieha 31, Sirens and Siggiewi 29, Swieqi 27, Marsa 24, Dingli 16, Ghaxaq 9 and Xghajra 5.
