Andrea Icardi returns to Balzan Academy for training sessions

Former AC Milan player and current head coach at the AC Milan Academy in Sydney, Andrea Icardi will be in Malta again to deliver two training sessions to boys at Balzan Academy in the age groups born in 2002 through to 2008.

This visit coincides with the recent return of Liam Fenech and Nathan Sciberras from Balzan Academy from the prestigious Stefano Gusella tournament in Torino where they played in one of Andrea’s Milan Teams from Sydney.

Andrea said “It was a vey high calibre tournament playing against top-level under 15 youth teams such Olympique Marseille and other professional teams. The two boys from Balzan did well and I am sure they have learnt a lot from their participation in such a high level international tournament. I am keen to see all the Balzan boys attending at my training sessions this Saturday 11 April and am looking forward to boys from Balzan joining me in other tournaments with my teams in Italy in the months and years ahead.”

Balzan Academy Director Timmy Gambin said “we are very proud of the overseas opportunities that we have given to several of our players this season. Apart from Liam and Nathan going to Torino for a world class experience with Andrea, we have also given Juan Corbolan the opportunity of playing at Serie B team Virtus Lanciano where he is now playing regularly for their Primavera team. Just this week we were also pleased to see Godwin McKay being selected for trials with Italian team Savona. We believe the success of our boys is due in large part to the excellence of our Academy through the great work that our Technical Director Ludvic Bartolo and all the coaches are doing at Balzan FC .”
