Vital wins for Balzan, Valletta in Gatorade Futsal Premier League

Balzan and Valletta won their respective encounters against Hamrun Spartans and Swieqi United respectively to boost their morale for the battles ahead after another round of matches was played from the Gatorade Futsal Premier League.

Balzan defeated Hamrun 5-3 to move to only one point behind their rivals for the second place. They managed to break the deadlock through Frane Despotovic before the break and the same player played as a flying keeper trying to double the score for Balzan. In the second half, Balzan pushed forward and Mark Zammit scored a quick brace. Raphael Dos Santos Filho reduced the arrears with his personal hat-trick. Marco Conti and Glenn Bonello added more goals for the champions to secure the precious three points.

Valletta won a delicate encounter for a play-off berth after seeing off Swieqi 7-6. Javier Montes Burgos and Dennis di Maio were twice on the mark as Shawn Vella, Melvin Borg and Xavier Saliba completed the mission for the Lilywhites. Swieqi reacted from a double by Andrew Sammut Alessi as Patrick Kinni, Andrew Decesare, Fredrik Johannsson and an own goal added more goals.

Qormi trounced Zebbug Rangers 11-5 with Albanian international Endrit Kaca scoring six goals while Mosta defeated Gzira Utd 3-2.
