BOV Division 2: San Gwann, Senglea share spoils in draw

San Gwann and Senglea Athletic shared the spoils in a 1-1 in a clash between the top two teams in the BOV Second Division. A draw which allows Hamrun Spartans to move back in second place as they beat Zabbar St. Patrick 2-1.

Josef Cutajar put San Gwann ahead on 35 minutes but Audgustine Obaje equalised eleven minutes from time. San Gwann need a draw from the clash with Mellieha to be declared champions.

In the clash between Hamrun and Zabbar, Jake Grech put the Spartans ahead on 25 minutes and they doubled the score thanks to an own goal two minutes in the second half. Zabbar pulled one back on 65 minutes thanks to Clayton Camilleri.

Muda Fagbeja was once again the hero for Gharghur as he scored twice in a 2-0 win over Siggiewi. He opened the score on the half-hour and doubled the score nine minutes later.

Ghaxaq defeated Dingli Swallows 3-0 in a clash between two teams who were relegated to Division 3. Emanuel Cutajar put Ghaxaq ahead eight minutes from the end of the first half. Bronwen Bugeja doubled the score on 66 minutes and the same player sealed the issue with a third goal four minutes from time.

Swieqi United defeated Xghajra Tornados 4-0 thanks to a brace by Leontiev Konda on the 28th and 35th and Jurgen Gerada on the 45th and 62nd.

In another match, Sirens beat Marsa 4-1. Ricardo Severino Goncalves put Sirens ahead on the 24th but Kevin Scerri equalised one minute from the end of the first half. Goncalves made it 2-1 on 62 minutes, Adrian Lanzon added another on the 76th with Ryan Sciberras scoring the fourth goal four minutes later.

San Gwann lead the way with 56 points, followed by Hamrun on 53, Senglea on 52, Zejtun 43, Gharghur 41, Zabbar 40, Mellieha 38, Siggiewi 36, Sirens 35, Swieqi 33, Marsa 28, Dingli 19, Ghaxaq 12 and Xghajra 5.
