Xewkija Tigers, Oratory Youths reach GFA Cup final

Xewkija Tigers and Oratory Youths will be contesting the final of the BOV GFA Cup on Sunday after winning the two semi-finals on Wednesday.

In the first semi-final, Oratory Youths shocked Nadur Youngsters, beating them 4-0. Nadur had a player sent off late in the first half. Shaun Attard broke the deadlock on the 68th, adding another two goals on the 77th and 84th. Thiago dos Santos sealed the issue with a fourth goal two minutes from time.

In another match, champions Xewkija Tigers defeated Second Division champions Ghajnsielem 8-2.

Daniel Bogdanovic converted a penalty on the 8th minute. The Blacks scored three goals in five minutes between the 15th and 19th to increase the lead to 4-0. Dene Shield doubled the score on the 15th, Daniel Bogdanovic made it 3-0 on the 17th and Kenneth Mercieca 4-0 on the 19th.

Ghajnsielem were back in contention with two goals on the 31st and 35th thanks to Michael Bezzina and a penalty by Jason Portelli. But Xewkija hit back with two goals by Eric Nwankwo on the 43rd and 45th. Dene Shield made it 7-2 on the 56th and Eric Nwankwo scored the eighth and final goal two minutes in added time.
