Prestigious UEFA appointment for Alan Mario Sant at UEFA Under-17 Finals

UEFA has appointed FIFA Referee Alan Mario Sant for the Under-17 Championship Quarter-Final match between holders England and Russia, being played on Saturday at Lazur Stadium in Burgas, Bulgaria.

Alan Mario Sant shall be assisted by FIFA Assistant Referees Dovydas Suziedelis (Lithuania) and Ville Koskiniemi (Finland), while FIFA Referee Pawel Raczkowski (Poland) has been appointed to act as Fourth Official.

Following UEFA’s announcement, a delighted Alan Mario Sant remarked that “I am one of 9 selected international referees at this tournament and any appointment from the quarter-final stage onwards is a bonus for me because the standard of all other referees is very high and consistent. It is therefore one of the best moments of my refereeing career so far. I am very happy and will do my best to continue representing my country and the MFA in the highest level possible.”

Following a fitness check under the auspices of UEFA Referee Committee members, Alan Mario Sant was appointed as the referee of the opening match in Group C between Scotland and France (0-5) at the Beroe Stadium in Stara Zagora on Thursday 7th May.

On the second match day, Alan Mario Sant acted as Fourth Official in the Group A match between Bulgaria (hosts) and Spain (1-2), while on Match Day 3 on Tuesday 12th May he was in charge of the decisive Group B match between Germany and Czech Republic (4-0).

This is the 3rd UEFA Under-17 Final Tournament in 4 years for Alan Mario Sant following his participation as a referee in Slovenia in 2012 and as Fourth Official last year in Malta. His notable progress has recognised by UEFA by promoting him to Category 2 in December 2014.
