The Rabat Ajax Football Nursery is currently celebrating its fortieth anniversary after it was founded by the brothers at St. Agatha under the name of Rabat Depiro in 1975. The brothers had set-up a Youth Centre where children could practice various sports disciplines, including football.

The three main pillars of the Rabat Ajax Football Nursery are: raising up the children in responsible adults while showing solidarity with people in need, developing the young players in the game of football and the provision of a safe environment for the children.

As part of the celebrations to mark this anniversary, donations were collected in order to acquire an automated external defibrillator (AED) to be installed at the Rabat Ajax Football Ground in Mtarfa. The committee, coaches, children and their partents worked hard to collect enough funds to buy the AED which will now be presented during the Annual Presentation Night which will be held on June 5th.

During the same event, a book with the history of the nursery “Rabat Ajax Football Nursery: Erbgħin Sena ta’ Storja” will be launched. The book will carry articles by Youth FA President Fr Hilary Tagliaferro, Rabat Ajax President Amadeo Zammit, Rabat Ajax Football Nursery President Brian Borg and Rabat Mayor Charles Azzopardi.

Meanwhile the Nursery will be organising other events to mark this anniversary including a Blood Donation Day, Seminars, Fun Days and BBQs.
