Ivan Zammit appointed Mosta FC coach

Mosta FC have appointed Ivan Zammit as their new coach. he replaces Englishman Peter Smith who took over from Enrico Piccioni mid-way through the season.

Zammit joined Valletta as Technical Director last October but a few weeks later, he took over as Head-Coach.

After a long playing career with Valletta, Zurrieq, Floriana, Hamrun Spartans, Birkirkara and Marsaxlokk, during which he won all major honours, especially during his second spell with Valletta, Ivan Zammit had started his coaching career with Vittoriosa Stars as player-coach, joining Balzan as player-coach in season 2008/09, leading them to promotion from Division 2 to Division 1.

The following season, he was appointed team-manager and led the club to promotion to the Premier League at the end of season 2010/11. Back in the top division, Balzan managed to retain their Premier League status. He was sacked towards the end of season 2012/13. The following season, Ivan Zammit was the coach of First Division side Gzira United.

Meanwhile former Ajax and Nigeria winger Tijani Babangida has been appointed as Technical Director.
