Malta Masters Football approved as member association

Apart from the approval of the Administrative Report and the Financial Report, other important items on the agenda of the MFA’s Annual General Meeting were the approval of amendments to the statute and motions and the election of the Ordinary Members of the Executive Committee for season 2015/16.

The Council members and delegates present at the Annual General Meeting voted in favour of a motion to approve Malta Masters Football as a member association of the Malta Football Association. Malta Masters Football will be represented in the Council of the Malta FA by one representative.

The latter was one of five amendments to the Statute of the MFA which were approved by the AGM. Another amendment focussed on on the set-up of two licensing boards – the UEFA Member Clubs’ Licensing Board and the MFA Member Clubs Licensing Board; another on the composition of the Referees’ Board Disciplinary Sub-Committee, one on the dates when a member association could hold its AGM and another on the removal of a clause which prohibited lawyers, legal procurators and notary publics from representing member clubs in front of boards if they did not hold the position of president or secretary.

Redino Apap (Qormi) and Michael Cutajar (St. George’s) were elected to represent member clubs in general after obtaining 53 and 62 votes respectively. The other two contestants Paul Falzon (St. Andrews) and Manuel Gauci (St. Patrick) obtained 48 and 42 votes respectively.

The fourteen Ordinary Members of the Executive Committee for season 2015/16 will therefore be:
Premier Division: Mario Debono (Sliema Wanderers) and Paul Spiteri (Valletta);
First Division: Joseph Borg (Hamrun Spartans) and Paul Zammit (Melita);
Second Division: Dr Angelo Chetcuti (Birzebbuga St. Peter’s) and Mark Pullicino (Gharghur);
Third Division: Raymond Micallef (Attard) and Paul Sammut (Santa Lucia);
Member Clubs in general: Redino Apap (Qormi) and Michael Cutajar (St. George’s);
Youth FA: Joe Micallef
Gozo FA: Dr Samuel Azzopardi
Other member associations: Lawrence Aquilina (MFCA) and Lino Bartolo (District Football League).
