Tickets for Malta vs Azerbaijan go on sale on Friday

Tickets for the European qualifier between Malta and Azerbaijan in programme on Sunday 6th September at the National Stadium will go on sale on Friday. Details about the game were given during a press conference at the National Stadium on Tuesday.

Addressing the media, MFA General Secretary Bjorn Vassallo spoke of the enthusiasm among the local supporters and the media ahead of the game against Italy in Firenze, scheduled for September 3. Malta aimed for a good performance, like it was the case in recent outings away from home. He said expectations for the Azerbaijan game were different as Malta not only targets a good performance but also a good result despite the fact that once again Malta’s opponents have several players playing in foreign leagues.

Vassallo said with the current EURO qualifiers coming to an end in October with the last two games against Norway away from home and Croatia, the association will be looking forward for the coming two years which will be quite challenging with the World Cup qualifiers against Scotland, England, Lithuania, Slovenia and Slovakia.

Ahead of these qualifiers, Malta will be playing a friendly match against Jordan in November and is planning other friendly matches in March and June.

MFA Head of Marketing Norman Saliba announced that the association has been working on increasing the number of sponsors for the national team. This is being triggered by a UEFA pilot project thanks to which the MFA and another five associations will be receiving assistance to increase participation in football and improve commercialisation.

Saliba revealed that Malta Football Association has reached a three-year agreement with Talocan Limited to be the second Gold Sponsors for the National Teams along with Cisk and Platinum Sponsors FXDD.

This partnership with Talocan should help the MFA with regards to digital products as part of the MFA’s drive towards customer relations management. Norman Saliba mentioned the recent launch of the MFA’s mobile website featuring the material visitors accessed most – results, fixtures and news.
