BOV Division 1: First win for Lija Athletic

Lija Athletic collected their first three points in the BOV First Division thanks to a 3-2 win over St. George’s at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Jorge Garcia Vidal gave Lija a two-goal lead on the 10th and 38th and just before half-time, Ige Abdullahi Adeshina added a third one. Timmy Thomas pulled one back five minutes from time when he converted a penalty and Carmelo Farrugia reduced the gap even further with a goal on the 90th.

In another match, Senglea Athletic and Pietà Hotspurs shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Fgura United and San Gwann earned a point each in a 1-1 draw at the Centenary Stadium. Quincy Bregman put Fgura ahead on 35 minutes but San Gwann rescued a point thanks to an own goal by Yacouba Cisse five minutes from time.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Hamrun Spartans were held in a 1-1 draw by Vittoriosa Stars. Steve Meilak put Vittoriosa ahead on the 9th minute but Mark Anthony Borg levelled matters for Hamrun six minutes later.

Senglea and Zebbug lead the way with seven points, followed by Gzira and Rabat on six, Fgura, Pietà and Hamrun 4, Gudja, Lija, Melita and St. George’s 3, San Gwann 2, Vittoriosa 1 and Mqabba 0.
