BOV Division 3: Mdina hit five past Mtarfa as they register third consecutive win

Mdina Knights maintained their perfect start in the BOV Third Division thanks to a 5-1 win over Mtarfa at the Charles Abela Stadium to register the third win in as many matches.

Daniel Cluett put Mdina ahead on the 14th and doubled the score two minutes in the second half. Andrea Spiteri made it 3-0 on the 53rd, adding another on the 71st. Adrian Galea scored the fifth goal on the 90th before Paul Azzopardi scored a consolation goal one minute in added time.

In another match, Santa Lucia registered their first win as they beat Xghajra Tornados 3-0. Mohammed Telessi put them ahead just before the end of the first half. Jonathan Bugeja doubled the score on the 74th and eight minutes later, Mohammed Telessi sealed the issue with a third goal.

Marsaxlokk and Ghaxaq shared the spoils in an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Sirens Stadium. Christopher Zammit put Ghaxaq ahead on the 18th but goals by Paul Paris on the 20th, a penalty by Wallace Oliveira Santos on the 41st and another goal by the Brazilian striker on the hour put Marsaxlokk 3-1 ahead. However Florin Anton converted a penalty on the 68th and Daniel Zahra rescued a point for Ghaxaq one minute from time.

Ta’ Xbiex held St. Venera Lightnings in a 1-1 draw in another match. Gianluca Calabretta gave Ta’ Xbiex an early lead, putting them ahead on the 5th but Danijel Vasic levelled matters six minutes from the end of the first half.

Attard scored twice in the second half to beat Kalkara 2-0 at the Luxol Stadium. Jurgen Gerada was the hero once again for Attard with two goals on the 72nd and 94th.

In another match, a goal by Gilbert Camilleri eight minutes from time gave Marsaskala a narrow win over Dingli Swallows.

Mdina lead the way with 6 points, followed by Attard and Marsaskala on 7 points, St. Venera 5, Ghaxaq, Santa Lucia and Ta’ Xbiex 4, Dingli 2, Marsaxlokk, Kalkara and Xghajra 1 and Mtarfa 0.
