BOV Division 1: Hamrun Spartans stage brilliant comeback

Hamrun Spartans came back from two goals down to beat Gudja United 4-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in one of the four BOV First Division matches in programme on Sunday.

Jason Clifford and Aaron Agius put Gudja two goals ahead but Haruna Garba, Alan Tabone and a brace by Saturday Nanapere gave Hamrun the three points.

A goal by Francois Guihard five minutes in the second half gave Melita a narrow win over Rabat Ajax at the Centenary Stadium.

In another game at the Centenary Stadium, Zebbug Rangers defeated Senglea Athletic 2-1. Abubakar Bello-Osagie put Senglea ahead but goals by Thomas Paris and Diego Pereira gave Alfred Attard’s side the three points.

Mqabba and St. George’s shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Timothy Thomas converted a penalty to put St. George’s ahead three minuets in the second half but Claudio Calleja equalised for Mqabba on the hour.

Gzira lead the way with 12 points, followed by Zebbug on 10, Senglea, Rabat and Hamrun 7, Lija and Melita 6, Fgura, St. George’s, Vittoriosa and Pietà 4, Gudja 3, San Gwann and Mqabba 2.
