Second win for Xewkija, Ghajnsielem

Ghajnsielem and Xewkija Tigers registered their second win in the Gozo Football League First Division to take the top spot.

Ghajnsielem registered a most comfortable 6-0 win over Victoria Hotspurs on Friday. The Hotspurs therefore suffered their first defeat after winning the first two matches.

Shaun Bajada put the Blacks ahead just before half-time. Joseph Attard doubled the score five minutes in the second half and two minutes later, Dhonatan Santos Da Hora made it 3-0. Ferdinando Apap increased the lead on 64 minutes before Dhonatan Santos Da Hora added another two goals on the 68th and 89th.

Xewkija Tigers defeated SK Victoria Wanderers 2-1. Thiago Melo Dos Santos put the champions ahead three minutes from the end of the first half but in added time, Ajibade Adesina levelled matters. However Chris Camilleri notched the winner on the 59th.

Kercem Ajax collected their first three points in a 2-1 win over Oratory Youths. Shaun Attard put Kercem ahead on the 32nd, Christian Mercieca equalised on the 40th but Malcolm Vella made it 2-1 for the Ajax on the 63rd.

In the Gozo Football League Second Division, Xaghra United and Nadur Youngsters shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw on Friday. Brandon Said put Nadur ahead on the 19th but Daniel Bartolo equalised on the 47th.

Sannat Lions registered their second win as they beat Munxar Falcons 6-1. Josiah Buttigieg put Sannat ahead just before half time with Daniel Borg doubling the score on the 62nd. Mario Azzopardi converted a penalty two minutes later to reduce the gap for Munxar. However Mark Muscat increased the lead from a penalty on the 68th. Sannat added another three goals in the final stages thanks to Antoine Camilleri on the 90th and 91st and Eric Gauci on the 92nd.

In another match, a brace by Alan Cini on 31 and 60 minutes gave Qala Saints a 2-0 win over Gharb Rangers.
