BOV Division 1: Hamrun Spartans join Zebbug in second place

Hamrun Spartans moved second in the BOV First Division along with Zebbug Rangers after defeating Senglea Athletic 3-0 in a clash between two of the challengers for promotion.

Jake Grech gave Hamrun the lead on the 7th and Alan Tabone doubled the score just before half-time. Alan Tabone added another goal on the 68th to seal the issue.

Vittoriosa Stars and Pietà Hotspurs joined Rabat Ajax and Senglea Athletic on the seven-point mark as they both registered fine wins.

Vittoriosa defeated Fgura United 4-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Charles Newuche Nnaemeka put Vittoriosa ahead on the 31st and Milan Lukic doubled the score nine minutes later when he converted a penalty. Seven minutes int he second half, Ryan Previ made it 3-0 and Miljan Milivojev sealed the issue with a fourth goal two minutes from time.

At the same venue, Pietà Hotspurs beat Rabat Ajax 3-1. James Scicluna put the Hotspurs ahead on the 13th minute and the same player doubled the score on the 20th. Dylan Falzon pulled one back for Rabat two minutes later. John Roland Emeka sealed the issue with a third goal two minutes from time.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, San Gwann defeated Gudja United 1-0 to register their first win. Shaun Vella scored the all-important goal on 21 minutes.

Gzira lead the way with 15 points, followed by Hamrun and Zebbug on 10, Lija and Melita 9, Vittoriosa, Pietà, Senglea and Rabat 7, San Gwann 5, St. George’s and Fgura 4, Gudja 3 and Mqabba 2.
