BOV Division 2: Zabbar St. Patrick inflict first defeat on leaders Marsa

Leaders Marsa suffered their first defeat in the BOV Second Division as they lost 1-2 to Zabbar St. Patrick at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Dylan Micallef put Zabbar ahead and Shalon Diacono doubled the score on the 63rd. Paul Chimezie pulled one back for Marsa on the 71st minute.

Sirens moved second thanks to a 3-0 win over Msida St. Joseph at the Sirens Stadium. Giovanni Galea converted a penalty on the 10th and added another two goals on the 22nd and 73rd.

A goal by Abeeb Abiodun Williams on the 39th gave Siggiewi a 1-0 win over Zejtun Corinthians at the Luxol Stadium. Siggiewi therefore join Zejtun in third place.

Mgarr United registered their first win as they defeated Mellieha 4-0 at the Luxol Stadium. They managed to break the deadlock four minutes from the end of the first half thanks to Matthew Muscat. James Borg doubled the score seven minutes in the second half and six minutes later, Lazar Doric increased the lead further. Eleven minutes from time, Kenneth Aquilina made it 4-0 for Mgarr.

Birzebbuga St. Peter’s scored two in each half to beat Swieqi United 4-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Edson Luiz Bonati put the Saints ahead on 34 minutes and Keith Muscat converted a penalty three minutes from the end of the first half to doubled the score. Ronnie Celeste added another two goals for Birzebbuga on the 72nd and 80th.

Zurrieq came from behind to beat Qrendi 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Clayton Caruana put Qrendi ahead on 44 minutes but Marko Dimitrijevic equalised on the 57th and Tonio D’Amato notched the winner on the 90th.

Marsa lead the way with 12 points, followed by Sirens on 11, Siggiewi and Zejtun 9, Zabbar and Gharghur 8, Birzebbuga and Qrendi 7, Swieqi 6, Kirkop and Mellieha 5, Mgarr 4, Zurrieq 2 and Msida 1.
