Tricky test for Balzan

Balzan will be hoping to extend their positive run in the BOV Premier league as they take on Floriana in one of the two matches in programme at the National Stadium on Sunday.

They won six of the eight matches played so far and are coming from five consecutive wins, dropping their only points in two draws with Hibernians and Tarxien. They lie one point behind Valletta after the latter defeated Balzan on Saturday.

The Greens, on the other hand, are currently seventh on 13 points and are eager to bounce back following a 1-3 defeat to Valletta last week.

Floriana mentor Luis Oliveira should have the full squad at his disposal while Balzan coach Oliver Spiteri could still not count on Bojan Kaljevic and Ryan Fenech. Valerio Senatore willbe back for Balzan after serving a one-match ban.

Meanwhile in the second match, Hibernians and Birkirkara cross swords in a clash between the two teams lying in third place.

The Paolites returned to winning ways on Sunday with a narrow 2-1 win over Qormi after dropping five points in a draw with Pembroke and a heavy 1-4 defeat to Mosta. The Stripes, on the other hand, are coming from three successive wins over Qormi, St. Andrews and Sliema.
