Five Premier League players suspended

Five Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Balzan duo Edison David Bilbao Zarate and Elkin Orlando Serrano Valero, Marcelo Dias of Hibernians, Patmore Shereni of Pembroke and Alex Muscat of Sliema are therefore ruled out of the weekend’s matches.

Balzan will therefore be without Zarate and Serrano in the game against Birkirkara. Dias and Muscat are ruled out of Sliema vs Hibs and Shereni will miss the game against Floriana.

Meanwhile five players were banned for one match after the FA Trophy second round. The players are John Paul Barbara, Jethron Azzopardi and Jurgen Cilia (Marsaxlokk), Philip Taylor (Sirens) and Ranier Buhagiar (St. George’s). Hamrun Spartans assistant coach Jason Mangani was banned for two matches while Zejtun kit-manager Charlton Gerada was suspended for one year.
