BOV Division 1: Maroons hit six past San Gwann

Leaders Gzira United keep marching on in the BOV First Division as they defeated San Gwann 6-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

They took the lead six minutes from the end of the first half through Moises Avila Perez but in the final thirteen minutes, Gzira scored no less than five goals – four by Raphael Alain Kooh Sohna on the 77th, 88th, 90th and 92nd and Sacha Borg on the 81st.

Senglea Athletic won one of six Cottonera derbies in the BOV First Division this season as they defeated Vittoriosa Stars 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium.

Aud-Gustine James Obaje was the hero for Senglea with a brace on the 21st and 84th.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Fgura United and Gudja United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Aaron Agius put Gudja ahead two minutes in the second half and Steven Sadnoval Escobar equalised on the 70th.

Zebbug Rangers returned to victory as they beat St. George’s 2-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Sergio Hili put the Rangers ahead on the 26th and Kurt Zammit doubled the score ten minutes from time.

Gzira lead the way with 19 points, followed by Hamrun on 14, Senglea and Zebbug 13, Lija on 12, Pietà 11, Vittoriosa and Rabat 10, Melita 9, Fgura 8, St. George’s, Mqabba and San Gwann 5 and Gudja 4.
