Late penalty sinks Under-19 side

The Malta Under-19 side led by coach David Nascimento suffered a third defeat in Group 6 of the UEFA Under-19 Championship Qualifying Round, losing 0-1 to Iceland at the Hibernians Stadium on Sunday.

Iceland captain Albert Guðmundsson scored the all-important goal five minutes from time when he converted a penalty awarded by referee Tihomir Pejin after Gunnarsson was fouled in the penalty area by Buckle.

Malta therefore ended its commitments without any points. Israel won the tournament after a goalless draw with Denmark in the other game on Sunday. Iceland placed third.
