Balzan aim at returning to winning ways

After losing three out of the last four matches, Balzan will be aiming at returning to winning ways as they take on Naxxar Lions in one of the four matches in programme on Tuesday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and the Hibernians Stadium.

Joint-leaders Valletta seek another three points from the clash with Sliema Wanderers, Qormi take on Mosta while St. Andrews and Pembroke Athleta cross swords in the derby.

Qormi vs Mosta, kick-off 18:00 at Hibernians Stadium
After claiming two points in two draws with Naxxar and Pembroke in their last two outings, Qormi will be aiming for another positive result as they face a Mosta side coming from a narrow defeat to Qormi in their last game. However Mosta will be all out for the three points as they try to get back on track.

Hassan Yau returns for Mosta after serving a one-match ban while Qormi striker Terence Vella is ruled out injured.

In the first round, Mosta defeated Qormi 1-0.

Sliema Wanderers vs Valletta, kick-off 20:00 at Hibernians Stadium
Valletta seek a sixth win in eight matches as they take on Sliema Wanderers who are currently fourth from bottom after losing four of the last six matches.

Valletta should be in full strength as they welcome back Henry Bonello, Jonathan Caruana, Jhonnattann, Llywelyn Cremona and Federico Falcone. Rafael Ledesma returns for Sliema.

In the first round, Valletta defeated Sliema 1-0.

Balzan vs Naxxar Lions, kick-off 18:00 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Balzan are keen for the three points from the clash with Naxxar after winning just one of the last four matches. Three defeats which cost Oliver Spiteri’s side the top spot. The Lions held Qormi and Birkirkara in two draws in their last two outings and another positive result on Tuesday would enabled them to stay ahead of Qormi.

Naxxar could not could on Moise Zady Gnenegbe and Angus Buhagiar as they are both ruled out through suspension. For Balzan, Bojan Kaljevic and Ryan Fenech are still recovering from injuries.

In the first round, Balzan defeated Naxxar 2-0.

St. Andrews vs Pembroke Athleta, kick-off 20:15 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
St. Andrews hope to end their losing streak as they face a Pembroke Athleta side which claimed four points from the last two matches after a win over Valletta and a draw with Qormi.

Leading St. Andrews will be caretaker coach Jose Borg following the resignation of Wayne Attard last week.

Pembroke defeated St. Andrews 4-3 in the first round.
