BOV Division 3: Marsaskala, Mdina share spoils in top-of-the-table clash

Marsaskala maintained a two-point lead over Mdina Knights in the BOV Third Division after an entertaining 2-2 draw in the top-of-the-table clash at the Charles Abela Stadium on Saturday.

Kurt Farrugia put Mdina ahead on the 22nd and Daniel Cluett converted a penalty on the 32nd. However Gilbert Camilleri reduced the gap on the 61st minute and Mark Spiteri equalised eight minutes from time.

Attard dropped two important points as they were held in a goalless draw by Ghaxaq at the Luxol Stadium. In another match at the same venue, St. Venera Lightnings and Mtarfa also shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Marsaxlokk returned to winning ways as they beat Xghajra Torndados 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium to join Attard in third place. Ryan D’Amato put Marsaxlokk ahead on 26 minutes but eight minutes later, Royter Degiorgio levelled matters for Xghajra. However John Paul Barbara notched the winner for Marsaxlokk ten minutes from time.

Luqa St. Andrew’s defeated Dingli Swallows 1-0 at the Sirens Stadium, courtesy of a goal by Liam Grech on the 76th.

Randall Cassar gave Kalkara a narrow win over Ta’ Xbiex in another match at the Sirens Stadium with a goal on the 27th minute.

Marsaskala lead the way with 19 points, followed by Mdina on 17, Attard and Marsaxlokk 16, Santa Lucia 13, Dingli and Ghaxaq 12, Luqa and Kalkara 10, Xghajra and St. Venera 7, Mtarfa and Ta’ Xbiex 4.
