Eight Premier League players suspended

Eight Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Mauricio Matias Latini Mazzetti (Birkirkara), Onyekachi Donatus Okonkwo (Mosta), Jose Angel Godar Pereira and Blazo Rajovic (Naxxar), Kurt Magro (Qormi), Bruno Giglio de Oliveira (Tarxien) and Valletta duo Claudio Pani and Ryan Camilleri are therefore ruled out of the first matches of 2016 which will be played on January 9 and 10.

Pani, Camilleri, Pereira and Rajovic are ruled out of Naxxar vs Valletta, Mazzetti and Magro will miss Birkirkara vs Qormi, Mosta could not count on Okonkwo for the clash with Balzan while Oliveira is ruled out of the game against Floriana.

In Division 1, Antoine Borg and Erjon Beu (Lija), Francois Guihard (Melita) and Neil Caruana (Rabat) were suspended for one match while Gudja official Gordon Grech and team-manager George Caruana, Gzira official Ian Micallef and Lija coach Brian Spiteri were all banned for two matches.

Daniel Axiaq (Mgarr), Abeeb Abiodun Williams (Siggiewi), Erik Gollcher and Jean Noel Azzopardi (Swieqi) and Ryan Cauchi (Zejtun) were handed a one-match ban in Division 2 while Noel Bilocca (Ghaxaq), Matthew Cassar (Kalkara), Rainer Curmi (Santa Lucia) and Joel Xuereb (Sta. Venera) were banned for one match in Division 3. Matthew Spiteri (Xghajra) was banned for three matches while Kalkara team-manager Marco Gerada was suspended for one match.
