Futsal: Luxol maintain perfect record

Luxol maintained a perfect record in the Gatorade Futsal League following a most comfortable 13-0 win over Zebbug Rangers.

Brazilian playmaker Celino Alves was Luxol’s inspirational player as he hit a poker, Carl Azzopardi, Florin Anton, Mark Zammit and Glenn Bonello hit the target twice while Joseph Chetcuti scored an own goal.

Joint second-placed sides Hamrun Spartans and Valletta also recorded comfortable wins to resume their good form of late.

Valletta overcame another hurdle in this campaign as they saw off Sliema Wanderers 8-0. The Wanderers tried hard to stay in the match but on the day the Citizens proved stronger. The latter took command of the proceedings and managed to score through a brace by Melvin Borg, Jovica Milijic, Xavier Saliba, Cristian Cuadros Silva, Liam Cachia, Jurgen Pace and Denis di Maio. This win helped Valletta to preserve their unbeaten record and look forward for the clash against Lija Athletic next week.

Hamrun Spartans, on the other hand, defeated Sirens 13-4. George Frendo and Raphinha struck five goals each, Michel Melo Jose netted a brace while an own goal increased the tally for the Spartans. Ryan Cassar scored a brace while Antoine Galea and Patrick Barbara scored the other two goals for Sirens.

A goal scored by Herbert Spiteri in the dying seconds of the match gave a 5-4 victory for Msida St Joseph over Mdina Knights.

Lija dominated their game against Qrendi from start to finish, winning it 6-1. Nicola Del Re, Luke Stivala, Redeemer Borg, Darren Aitchinson, Chris Cardona and Ebrahim Massoudi were on the mark for the Athletic.

Swieqi United and Marsaskala obtained their second win on the run as they beat Mqabba 7-2 and Gozo FC 3-0 respectively.
