BOV Division 3: Marsaxlokk win direct clash

Marsaxlokk registered a fifth win in six matches in the BOV Third Division as they defeated Mdina Knights 2-0 in a clash between two of the challengers for promotion at the Luxol Stadium on Sunday.

Ryan D’Amato put Marsaxlokk ahead on the hour and an own goal seven minutes from time sealed the issue.

Marsaskala returned to winning ways as they defeated Mtarfa 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium to move second. Mark Spiteri opened the score on the 18th minute and Claudio Pace doubled the score two minutes from time.

Dingli Swallows registered a third consecutive win as a goal by Andrew Scerri on the 29th minute gave them a narrow win over Attard at the Sirens Stadium.

Luqa St. Andrew’s returned to victory with a 2-0 win over bottom-placed Ta’ Xbiex at the Luxol Stadium. Justin Muscat put Luqa ahead five minutes from the end of the first half and Lydon Sciberras doubled the score on the 64th.

Xghajra Tornados defeated Kalkara 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Royter Degiorgio put Xghajra ahead on the 32nd and although Kalkara equalised six minutes in the second half through Randall Cassar, Kevin Galea notched the winner for Xghajra.

In another match, St. Venera Ligthnings and Santa Lucia shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Marsaxlokk lead the way with 29 points, followed by Marsaskala on 26, Attard 25, Mdina 24, Dingli 23, Santa Lucia 20, Ghaxaq 17, Luqa 16, St. Venera 13, Xghajra 12, Kalkara 10, Mtarfa 8 and Ta’ Xbiex 4.
