B’Kara, Balzan firm favourites to claim the three points

Birkirkara and Balzan are firm favourites to claim the three points at the National Stadium on Wednesday as they take on St. Andrews and Qormi respectively in two matches which were originally scheduled for January 16 but were called off due to a waterlogged pitch at the Hibernians Stadium.

In the first match, Birkirkara target a fifth consecutive win as they take on St. Andrews who are still chasing their first points after eighteen matches.

In their last five matches, including the FA Trophy fourth round clash with Valletta, Birkirkara scored ten and conceded none. The Saints, on the other hand, scored just nine goals in eighteen matches, conceding sixty.

In the first round, Birkirkara defeated St. Andrews 4-0.

Meanwhile in the second match, Balzan would leapfrog Floriana into fourth place should they beat Qormi.

Balzan registered comfortable wins over Mosta and St. Andrews in their last two outings while Qormi lost five out of the last six matches.

Paul Fenech returns for Balzan after serving a one-match ban while Qormi will one again be unable to field their best formation due to a number of players recovering from injuries.

Balzan defeated Qormi 1-0 in the first round.
