Malta international midfielder Rowen Muscat joined Italian Lega Pro side AC Pavia on loan until the end of season with the Italian club having an option of making this move a permanent one this summer.

The club hopes Muscat will help them maintain the challenge for promotion as they are currently seventh in the Lega Pro Girone A, nine points behind leaders Cittadella.

A product of Birkirkara, Muscat made his Premier League debut for the Stripes in season 2009/10. In summer 2014, he was transferred to Hungarian top division side Dunaujvaros PASE but his stay was cut short as he was released due to the club’s financial problems.
