More clubs strenghten squads in penultimate day of transfer window

The January transfer window closes on Monday 1st February with clubs making their final attempts to strengthen their squads.

Birkirkara signed another foreign player – French-Senegalese striker L’Imam Seydi. Seydi, who had a short spell with Floriana in summer 2011, played for Diosgyor, Debreceni and Nyiregyhaza in Hungary, Khazar Lankaran and Inter Baku in Azerbaijan in the last five years.

Tarxien Rainbows secured the services of Spanish winger Sergio Fernández Prendes. A product of Sporting Gijon, Prendes played mainly for the club’s second team and then for Spanish clubs in lower divisions before moving to Mexico to join Atletico San Luis last summer.

John Mintoff also joins Tarxien Rainbows, on loan from Sliema Wanderers.

Meanwhile Tarxien released Lucky Omeruo, Ren Mizugashira and Gaetano Gesualdi who all joined St. George’s in Division 1.

Sliema Wanderers signed Nigerian striker Saviour Fidelis from Mosta and former Mosta and Naxxar Lions midfielder Armando Vieira dos Santos. Fidelis had joined Mosta in summer while Mandinho joined Naxxar this summer but was released by the club last month.
