Mqabba moved sixth in the BOV First Division as they extended their positive run to five matches, beating Lija Athletic 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

Paul Chimezie put Mqabba ahead just before half-time. Claudio Calleja converted a penalty to make it 2-0 on the 67th and nine minutes later, Chimezie added another. Michael Borg scored a consolation goal for Lija six minutes from time.

Gzira lead the way with 43 points, followed by Hamrun on 42, Senglea and Pietà 31, Lija 24, Mqabba and Fgura 23, Zebbug and Melita 22, Vittoriosa and Rabat 20, San Gwann 14, St. George’s 12 and Gudja 8.
