BOV Division 3: Santa Lucia move joint-second

Santa Lucia extended their unbeaten run in the BOV Third Division to sixteen matches as they registered a fourth consecutive win, beating Kalkara 1-0 to move second, on level points with Mdina Knights.

A Matthew Borg goal on the half-hour gave Santa Lucia the three points at the Charles Abela Stadium. Mdina Knights, on the other hand, were held in a 1-1 draw by Dingli Swallows in another match at the Mosta Ground. Joshua Sciarrino put Dingli ahead on the 35th but Velibor Milicic equalised on the 65th.

Leaders Marsaxlokk defeated Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Dylan Attard converted a penalty to put Marsaxlokk ahead on the 57th minute and three minutes later, Jean Claude Vella doubled the score.

Attard moved fourth following a 4-0 win over Marsaskala at the Luxol Stadium thanks to goals by Kurt Zahra on the 12th and 55th and Jonathan Micallef on the 84th and 90th.

Ghaxaq also registered a fourth consecutive win as they came from behind to beat Mtarfa 2-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Daniel Cilia put Mtarfa ahead on the 9th minute but a brace by Bjorn Dalli on the 58th and 76th gave Ghaxaq the three points.

Ta’ Xbiex returned to winning ways as they beat Xghajra Tornados 3-0 in another match at the Sirens Stadium. Andrew Xuereb put them ahead on the 66th and ten minutes later, Matthew Fenech doubled the score before Xuereb converted a penalty to seal the issue on the 90th.

Marsaxlokk lead the way with 35 points, followed by Mdina and Santa Lucia on 32, Attard 31, Dingli and Marsaskala 30, Ghaxaq 29, Luqa 16, St. Venera and Xghajra 15, Ta’ Xbiex 11, Kalkara 10 and Mtarfa 9.
