BOV Division 1: Precious points for St. George’s

St. George’s scored twice in the second half to collect three precious points in the battle against relegation as they defeated Zebbug Rangers 2-0 in one of the two BOV First Division matches in programme on Sunday at the Centenary Stadium.

Idahosa Uwadia opened the score on the 56th and Lucky Omeruo made it 2-0 on the 68th.

An own goal ten minutes in the second half gave Lija Athletic a narrow win over Pietà Hotspurs. A win which puts Lija in a most comfortable mid-table position while for the Hotspurs who were suffering the third defeat in four matches now fall four points behind third-placed Senglea Athletic.

Gzira lead the way with 50 points, followed by Hamrun on 47, Senglea 38, Pietà 34, Lija 30, Mqabba 29, Vittoriosa and Fgura 26, Zebbug 25, Rabat 23, Melita 22, St. George’s 18, San Gwann 17 and Gudja 8.
