Xewkija hit seven past Hotspurs

Champions Xewkija Tigers registered a most comfortable 7-0 win over Victoria Hotspurs in one of the matches from the Gozo Football League First Division on Sunday.

Daniel Bogdanovic converted a penalty on the 12th minute and Thiago Melo Dos Santos doubled the score just before the end of the first half. Thiago Melo Dos Santos made it 3-0 seven minutes in the second half before Dene Shields and Chris Camilleri increased the lead further with goals on the 62nd and 64th. Daniel Bogdanovic added another two goals on the 69th and 72nd.

Oratory Youths came from behind to beat St. Lawrence Spurs. Louis Buttigieg could have put St. Lawrence ahead on the 16th minute but his penalty was neutralised by the goalkeeper. However Luke Meilak was quick to place the ball at the back of the net off the rebound. Anderson Mendes Ribeiro could have equalised but hit wide from the penalty spot three minutes later. However the Brazilian striker equalised on the 38th and after Alex Tramboo put the Youths 2-1 ahead, Anderson Ribeiro sealed the issue with a third goal on the 79th.

On Friday, Kercem Ajax beat SK Victoria Wanderers 5-0 thanks to goals by Claudio Antunes on the 43rd, Andrew Mizzi on the 47th, Shaun Attard on the 79th, Claudio Antunes and Daniel Atzori one minute from time.

In the Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions defeated Qala Saints 3-0 thanks to a brace by Kenneth Bonnici on the 15th and the 18th and a goal by Antoine Camilleri on the 67th.

In another match, Zebbug Rovers and Gharb Rangers shared the spoils in an entertaining 3-3 draw. Joel Xuereb put Zebbug ahead on the 15th but Josef Camenzuli on the 47th and Sylvan Galea on the 55th turned the score in Gharb’s favour. Anthony Zammit levelled matters on the 67th with Joel Xuereb putting Zebbug 3-2 ahead but Frank Attard made it 3-3 on the 84th.
