Leaders Marsaxlokk failed to extend the lead on top the BOV Third Division table after suffering a shock 0-3 defeat to Xghajra Tornados at the Luxol Stadium on Sunday.

Gilbert Scicluna put Xghajra ahead on the 13th minute and just past the hour, Elton Caruana converted a penalty to double the score. Matthew Scicluna sealed the issue with a third goal on the 90th.

Attard move to just one point behind second-placed Santa Lucia and two behind the leaders after beating Ghaxaq 1-0 at the Sirens Stadium.

Mdina Knights returned to winning ways as they defeated Marsaskala 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium to move fourth. An own goal on the 22nd minute paved the way for Michael Molzahn’s side. Velibor Milicic doubled the score on the 61st and fourteen minutes from time, Mark Cremona sealed the issue with a third goal.

A goal on the 91st minute by Wayne Cuschieri gave Luqa St. Andrew’s a dramatic win over Dingli Swallows at the Charles Abela Stadium.

St. Venera Lightnings defeated Mtarfa 1-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium courtesy of a Ryan Cauchi goal five minutes before the end of the first half.

In another match, Kalkara and Ta’ Xbiex shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Luxol Stadium. Lizio Grech put Kalkara ahead on the 21st but ten minutes later, Matthew Fenech levelled matters for Ta’ Xbiex.

Marsaxlokk lead the way with 42 points, followed by Santa Lucia on 41, Attard on 40, Mdina 38, Ghaxaq 36, Marsaskala 33, Dingli 32, St. Venera 21, Luqa 20, Xghajra 18, Kalkara 17, Mtarfa 13 and Ta’ Xbiex 12.
