Birkirkara’s Stephania Farrugia is the BOV Female Player of the Month for January and February 2016.

The 24 year old defender who rose from Birkirkara’s youth nursery is a fixed asset in Birkirkara’s defence. Her defensive prowess is accentuated with her versatility, regularly jotting her name down on the team’s scoring list.

In Birkirkara’s match against Raiders FC, Stephania kept her cool under the pressure of the more organised opponents, picking up a short clearance and driving a low shot past goalkeeper Jodie Attard for the 1-0 victory to keep the pressure on runaway leaders Hibernians.

Stephania also found the net with a powerful header in Birkirkara’s 6-1 routing of Pembroke Athleta and hit home a penalty against Hibernians in their 3-2 defeat to the league leaders.

Bernard Azzopardi, Manager of Bank of Valletta’s Birkirkara Branch presented the BOV Female Player of the Month trophies for January and February to Farrugia.
