Kercem Ajax won the first honour of the season as they defeated Xewkija Tigers 3-0 at the Gozo Stadium on Thursday.
Elton Vella put Kercem ahead after just five minutes and Shaun Attard doubled the score on the 28th. Petar Kyumyurdzhiev was sent off nine minutes from time but three minutes in added time, Claudio Antunes sealed the issue with a third goal.
Meanwhile in the Gozo Football League Second Division on Tuesday, Gharb Rangers defeated Munxar Falcons 4-1 at the Kercem Ajax Stadium. Daniel Pace put Munxar ahead after just two minutes but three goals by Sylvan Galea on the 17th, 22nd and 87th and a goal by Josef Camenzuli on the 56th gave the Rangers the three points.
Last week, Xaghra United maintained a five-point lead at the summit thanks to a 3-1 win over Zebbug Rovers. Ejofor Nkwocha converted a penalty on the 21st to put Zebbug ahead but a brace by Aleandro Bezzina on the 32nd and 37th and a goal by Oliver Farrugia seven minutes from time gave Xaghra the three points.
In the Gozo Football League First Division, Victoria Hotspurs defeated SK Victoria Wanderers 2-1 in the derby. Sam Harlnad put the Wanderers ahead on the 15th minute but the Hotspurs turned the score in their favour thanks to Sunday Baala on the 32nd and an own goal just before half-time.
