Hibernians all out to claim derby victory

Hibernians will be all out to claim the three points from the derby against Tarxien Rainbows in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme on Sunday.

Following Floriana’s fine 2-0 win over leaders Valletta on Saturday, a win for Hibernians over Tarxien would put them just three points behind the Citizens. The Paolites are unbeaten in thirteen matches and are coming from a 3-1 win over Floriana last week.

Tarxien lie in a comfortable mid-table position in sixth place but will definitely try their best to upset their neighbours. They lost 0-2 to Valletta last week.

The Rainbows could not count on the suspended Daniel Zerafa but Sergio Fernandez Prendes will be back after serving a three-match ban. Bjorn Kristensen returns for Hibernians.

Hibernians defeated Tarxien 1-0 and 2-0 in the first two rounds.

Meanwhile in the first match, St. Andrews take on Birkirkara.

The Saints are desperate for points after losing the last three matches and falling four points behind tenth-placed Naxxar Lions. On the other hand, fourth-placed Birkirkara target a fifth consecutive win in order to keep the pace with the top three.

Birkirkara could not count on the suspended Ryan Scicluna. Eloy Edu Nkene returns for St. Andrews after serving a one-match ban.

The Stripes beat St. Andrews 4-0 and 3-1 in the previous rounds.
