Ghajnsielem edge closer to title

Ghajnsielem moved a step closer to the championship in the Gozo Football League First Division as they defeated Victoria Hotspurs 3-0 on Sunday. Milos Stojanovic was the hero for the Blacks with goals on the 26th and the 30th with Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza scoring on the 28th.

Xewkija Tigers, on the other hand, scored three in the second half to defeat SK Victoria Wanderers 3-0. Daniel Bogdanovic put the Tigers ahead on the 57th, Thiago Melo Dos Santos doubled the score on the 77th and Dene Shields made it 3-0 one minute from time.

In another match on Wednesday, Victoria Hotspurs defeated Oratory Youths 3-2. Manwel Cordina put the Youths ahead on the 10th minute but Moussa Bamba levelled matters on the 20th. Sunday Baala turned the score in the Hotspurs’ favour on the 67th and three minutes later, Moussa Bamba added another. Joseph Grima reduced the gap eleven minutes from time.

On Friday, Kercem Ajax defeated St. Laurence Spurs 2-1 thanks to goals by Shaun Attard on the 38th and Andrew Mizzi on the 71st with Jason Theuma scored a consolation goal on the 79th.

Meanwhile Xaghra United secured promotion to the top division after defeating Gharb Rangers 2-0 thanks to a brace by Marlon Mamo on the 44th and 74th in a match from the Gozo Football League Second Division.

Nadur Youngsters defeated Munxar Falcons 5-3. Goals by Christian Debono on the 30th, Brandon Said on the 39th, Christian Debono on the 42nd and Shaun Muscat on the 54th put the Youngsters four goals ahead. Munxar made a good comeback with goals by Daniel Pace on the 70th, Kersten Grima on the 76th and Mark Debrincat on the 83rd but Brandon Said secured victory for Nadur with a goal six minutes from time.
