Hefty bans for St. Andrews coach, team manager

Seven Premier League players were suspended while St. Andrews coach Jose Borg and team manager Denis Guerra were handed hefty bans by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Paltemio Barbetti (Pembroke) was banned for two matches while Clive Brincat (Balzan), Emanuel Briffa (Floriana), Carlos Menendez Hevia and Ebiabowei Baker (Tarxien), Jonathan Caruana and Romeu Pericles Romao (Valletta) were all suspended for one match. On the other hand, St. Andrews coach Jose Borg was banned for ten matches while team-manager Denis Guerra was handed a three-match ban.

Barbetti is therefore ruled out of Pembroke’s next two games against Floriana and Tarxien; Manuel Briffa is also ruled out of the game against Pembroke, Clive Brincat misses the game against Hibernians; Tarxien will lack Hevia and Baker for the clash with Mosta while Valletta could not count on Caruana and Romao for this weekend’s big match against Birkirkara.

In Division 1, Luke Bianco (Melita), Nikolai Muscat (San Gwann), Ryan Previ (Vittoriosa) and Keith Vella (Zebbug) were banned for one match while Karl Azzopardi (Gharghur), Ryan Zammit (Mellieha), Clayton Borg (Mgarr), Dylan Zarb and Bjorn Bondin (Qrendi), Karl Mizzi (Siggiewi), Kristian Galea (Sirens) and Neil Tabone (Zejtun) were suspended for one match in Division 2.
