Transfer market closes at midnight

nike-ordem-ta-qaliThe transfer market closed at midnight with a number of clubs strengthening further their squads with new players, mainly foreigners.

After signing Italian attacking midfielder Massimiliano Giusti on loan from Vicenza earlier this week, Hamrun Spartans strengthened their squad with the signing of Italian defender Christian Maldini on loan from Reggiana. Maldini, who is 20-years old and is the son of former Milan captain Paolo Maldini, played at youth level with Milan and Brescia before joining Reggiana.

The Spartans also welcomed back Nigerian striker Haruna Garba just a few weeks after he left the club to join Al Ittihad Alexandria in Egypt.

Meanwhile the Spartans transferred Ryan Spiteri to Sliema Wanderers. A product of Hamrun Spartans, the twenty-one year old had a short spell on loan with Tarxien Rainbows last season.

Another two signings for the Wanderers were Nigerian defender Benjamin Chinedu Oweregbulam and Brazilian midfielder Armando Tarlazis Vieira dos Santos. Oweregbulam had made his debut for Mosta last week but got sent off in his first outing against Valletta. Mandinho, on the other hand, had spells with Mosta and Naxxar Lions before joining the Wanderers mid-way through last season.

Brazilian defensive midfielder Marcelina Emerson joined Tarxien Rainbows, on loan from Birkirkara. The 25-year old moved to Malta in summer 2014 to join Floriana but moved to Birkirkara the following season. However last January, he was loaned once again to Floriana.

Young Hibernians midfielder Zack Scerri joined Gzira United on loan.

Mosta released Dominican Republic international defender Enmy Manuel Pena Beltre. He had joined the Blues from St, Andrews earlier this summer. Luca Martinelli joined the Blues on loan from Sliema Wanderers.

St. Andrews added another foreigner to their line-up with the signing of Slovenian midfielder Žiga Kastrevec.
