Stoppage time goal gives Belgium 3-2 win over Under-21 side

UEFAUnder21The Malta Under-21 side came back from two goals down but this was not enough to avoid a 2-3 defeat to Belgium in another match from Group 1 of the UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifiers at the Hibernians Stadium on Friday.

Belgium were clearly a better side taking a two-goal lead but two goals late in the game almost handed Malta a draw before the Belgians scored a dramatic winner in the dying minutes.

The visitors took the lead after just three minutes when Musonda was brought down inside the area by Guillaumier and Youri Tielmans converted from the penalty spot.

Belgium doubled the score on the 23rd when off a cross by Senna Miangue from the left, Theo Ofelo Bongonda headed home past Jurgen Borg.

Malta pulled one back on the 74th minute thanks to Jurgen Degabriele who slotted the ball past goalkeeper Davy Roef from just inside the area.

Siebe Schrijvers was then unlucky to hit the woodwork for Belgium two minutes later.

Six minutes from time, Malta levelled matters when off a low cross from the left by Jake Grech, Michael Heylen committed an own goal in attempt to clear the ball into safety.

However on the 90th minute, Belgium notched the winner when off a corner by Tielmans from the left, Bjorn Engels headed home.
